Now we’ve blogged about apps before, so you’ll know where we stand on this topic. If they’re useful and timesaving, they get our thumbs up. We’ve got no time for apps that auto tune our voices or tell us what our future baby might look like. Nope, we’re definitely above all that. We do, however, have time for apps that make our crazy-busy lives a little simpler; apps that afford us more time to enjoy the real world rather than sucking us into black holes of pointlessness.

And time is never more precious than when we’re on our summer holibobs, right? You’ve earned that holiday fair and square – whether you’re caravanning in Cornwall or lapping it up in St Lucia – so we thought we’d share with you a genius little app we’ve come across that’ll optimise your holiday experience and free up a bit more me-time while you’re away. We’re nice like that – you can send us a postcard to say thanks.

If you’re the kind of holidaymaker who:
  • Spends their precious last day of every holiday getting hand cramp writing frantic postcards to aunts, neighbours, nephews and the cat
  • Digs their crumpled postcards out from the bottom of their hand luggage and posts them once home
  • Can’t actually be bothered to spend the time or money choosing postcards or deciphering the postal system abroad, thus disappointing cats, aunts and offspring annually
You need to download Touchnote, now. Revolutionising the way we communicate (old romantics look away now), Touchnote allows you to take and customise your own holiday postcard snap, type out a message and send the card through cyberspace to your nearest and dearest. Say goodbye to precious minutes spent perusing postcard stands when you could be sizzling on the beach, and no more need to annotate your postcards with pointless little ‘we are here’ arrows.

You may be wondering at this stage what makes this any different from the ancient e-card, concept, right? Well, those clever chaps and chappesses at Touchnote will print your personalised postcard and send it out to the recipients you’ve listed, by royal mail. Yep – they get a REAL postcard through their letterbox. One they can stick on their fridge and everything. The app is free and you purchase credits up front to pay for your postcards. At £1.49 each including printing and postage, it’s probably a bit dearer than the traditional route, but seriously timesaving.
